In the fall of 1928, thirty-five year-old Freya Stark set out on her first journey to the Middle East. She spent most of the next four years in Iraq and Persia, visiting ancient and medieval sites, and traveling alone through some of the wilder corners of the region.
I was pleased to receive the vintage book I ordered perfectly packaged and quickly shipped. My new book is in better condition than I expected with the aged book cover carefully wrapped in mylar. Opening my new book I discovered a surprise gift. Tucked inside the cover was an early twentieth century stationary envelope...a bit of mail mailed from a sender in my home state. Postmarked in the capital city January 14, 1907. A note suggested I use it as a bookmark. What a treasured piece of history this is to me!
