I've had the book for several days now and enjoy Mr. Fritze's take on what explorers, geographers and mythmakers said about voyages real and fabricated. I would have liked to see some discussion of travel fiction and fantasy- the genre of Gulliver's Travels and Robinson Crusoe. I included these in my own book on the subject, THE IMAGINARY SEA VOYAGE.Since the author has included the Odyssey and the Argonautica--unmistakably fictional accounts, though perhaps based on some actual sailor's embellished recollections, he might have embraced more recent examples of the faux travel account.All-in-all a handy compendium of the legends, lore and travel journals up through the 19th century.
