Devon offers Britain at its most lush and charming through to its most bleak and impressive landscapes. The stark uplands of Dartmoor are in easy reach of the sunny delights of the southern coast, its boating fraternity and even the odd palm tree. Resorts like Torquay offer a retro feel, while the more historic Dartmouth is rather quietly charming. Entirely different, the north coast and its Atlantic rollers cater to the new surfing passion, particularly around Croyde Bay. And elsewhere is some of the prettiest countryside you could hope to see. Families can stroll it, ride it (by bike or horse), even walk it with a llama in tow. You can camp - in yurts if you fancy - or enjoy the comforts of some of the UKs most family-oriented hotels.
Shall I be serious? I live in Devon but have no clue what's here. This book showed me the way and now, during one school holiday I saved money on Disneyland and stayed at home visiting all the attractions with the kids. Great book, love it. Buy it if you're coming to Devon, you won't regret it.Another tip for tourists, please stay away from rural Devon such as Torrington and Merton. You really do drive rather slow and can be quite rude in a queue. Thank you
