Product Description

Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Rock 'n' Roll pioneer on one CD. One of Rock's true architects whose influences still reverberate far and wide, he was a true giant of the genre, much imitated but never duplicated. This quintessential release includes two of his finest and most celebrated albums: Have Guitar, Will Travel (1959) and in the Spotlight (1960). These two masterpieces marked a real hit making stretch for Checker Records during Diddley's early years. They have been packaged together in this very special collector's edition, which also includes five bonus tracks from the same period. Between hypnotic and rhythmic guitar lines, all of these songs showcase a young Bo Diddley at his raw and primal best, and confirm that right out of the box he didn't sound like anyone else. Hoodoo Records. 2011.

An interesting occurrence with this 2 LP set. I bought a 2 LP disc with the identical record jackets a few years ago. The LP titles were Bo Diddly Rides again and In the Spotlight. Recently I read that "Roadrunner" was supposed to be on In the Spotlight but it isn't.So, I started searching. That's when I came across this CD. Rides Again is entitled Have Guitar, Will Travel [the jacket picture is identical] while in the Spotlight remains the same. Turns out that my earlier purchase had 2 UK releases. The US version and the UK issued LPs have quite dissimilar track inclusions. There are a couple tracks which are the same but feel free to buy both for you'll end up with 4 differing LPs. And Roadrunner is on the US release.I have not gone deep into the weeds to find what US LPs the songs on the UK release might be on. Maybe they are and maybe they're not.
