Product Description

Of all Africa's safari destinations, this is the most fertile. It is the best in Africa for seeing a variety of primate species with more than ten types of monkey. More than 1,000 bird species have been recorded here and you can encounter lions, elephants and buffaloes. Whether visitors want to climb the Mountains of the Moon, raft the headwaters of the Nile, or marvel at the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, this edition of Philip Briggs' much-praised guide is the most comprehensive, with expanded coverage of gorilla tracking options and the best accommodation in every price bracket.

I lead trips to Uganda, and this is the only guide book I use as a reference. I am a solid devotee to Lonely Planet guides when traveling in Asia, but for most African countries I have found the Bradt guides to be far more useful and detailed. This guide benefits greatly from the partnership between Philip Briggs and Andy Roberts. Andy has been living in Uganda for many years, and has a depth of knowledge that is rare to find in guidebooks that are generally written by people who have spent time in, but not lived in, the countries they are writing about. I am particularly happy to see more of northern Uganda included in this guidebook, as the region is now a safe and fascinating place to explore. Well done, Philip Briggs and Andy Roberts!
